Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May the event stops at Mazzetti d’Altavilla
Not only cellars … but also a distillery opens its doors in Monferrato on the occasion of the return of Cantine Aperte, an event promoted by the Wine Tourism Movement and again at the starting line on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May. The “cocktail” served by Mazzetti d’Altavilla in the two days on the top of the hill of Altavilla Monferrato (Al) includes some special ingredients: an ancient monastery, the view of the Unesco hills and a 176-year-old tradition of distillation. At the grapperia in Viale Unità d’Italia 2, two days of guided tours will take place to get to know the world of 0 km spirits in depth, from the raw material to the drop to be tasted. Grappa-lovers will be guided in the various production environments, from the pomace square to the production plants, from the Barricaia to the Galleria della Grappa, to learn the secrets of the centuries-old art of distillation. The Cantine Aperte program at Mazzetti d’Altavilla provides for the opening of the premises for Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May from 9 to 12.30 and from 15 to 18.30 with the possibility of registering for different visits (each with a limited number and with possibility of joining up to the maximum limit of availability) to which it is possible to book by calling the number 0142 926147. The formula of itinerant guided tastings is confirmed for this edition, which will allow the public to taste distillates km 0 along the route outside the Grappa Store. Space also for art and the territory: on the weekend of Cantine Aperte it will also be possible to visit the Votive Chapel “La Rotonda”, the circular religious building dedicated to Saint Mary Help of Christians and dating back to 1808 which preserves a large cross in illuminated stone to appear even more suggestive. The church is part of the historic park of the ancient monastery which became the seat of the Distillery where there is also the photographic exhibition “Il Monferrato nel Spirito”, dedicated to the places of tourist interest that arise in this corner of Monferrato. During the opening hours it is also possible to have free tastings of the various Mazzetti-branded spirits and it is also still possible to book (subject to availability of seats) for the Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch at the Materia Prima restaurant where the seasonal tasting menu and territory can optionally also be accompanied by the tasting itinerary with spirits. Finally, on Sunday 29 May, the location for the tasting of the Italian Cigar will also return to the Casa della Grappa in collaboration with the ADT Club, for all enthusiasts and onlookers.
During the days the Grappa Store will remain open for purchases, even in gift packs and to view the news of the Mazzetti world.
Among the events scheduled at Mazzetti d’Altavilla there is also the celebration dedicated to Saint Mary Help of Christians at the La Rotonda Votive Chapel, scheduled for 5.30 pm on Thursday 26 May and open to the public.
