Twelve photographers, six women and six men, who work in the region of the Piedmont hills, which were declared a World Heritage Site in 2014, make up the cast of the newly published 2017/18 Photographic Calendar, the result of an unusual challenge. The professional photographers, who come from all the hilly areas of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato wine-growing region, enthusiastically accepted the challenge laid down for the first time by the Piedmont distillery: to immortalise something which represents the excellence of Piedmont – namely Grappa – by contextualising it in the landscape of its origin and which gives us that fragrant pomace: the UNESCO hills.
The result was nothing short of outstanding: each photographer came up with their own unique ideas to express their own impressive creative skills. Each photograph is accompanied by poetic captions and the author’s words which reveal that the same feelings were experienced in taking the shot as in the daily work that goes on in the UNESCO hills.
Here are their names, in alphabetical order: Paolo Bernardotti, Paola Calamarà, Chiara Cavagnolo, Anne Conway, Igor Furlan, Sabrina Gazzola, Davide Giovinazzo, Fabio Menino, Giulio Morra, Enrica Pavese, Giulia Ricagni and Pasquale Tortorella. They all live between Langa and Monferrato passing through the areas of Asti and Alessandria.
