Mazzetti d’Altavilla inaugurates its 175th distilling season with guided tours, tastings, and art exhibitions at its historic Monferrato location
The freshest pomace from Piedmontese vineyards is arriving at the Mazzetti d’Altavilla for a special anniversary: headquarters 175 years of distilling. At the top of the Altavilla Monferrato hill, everything is ready to see the stills return to work, extracting the aromas and flavors of the region's finest grape varieties to create spirits that truly express " Piedmont in the Spirit ." The magic of autumn returns with this special anniversary, a celebration to share with visitors who choose to stop by the company next weekend for the 2021 edition of " Piemonte Grappa, " an event promoted on a regional scale by the Consortium for the Protection of Grappa del Piemonte and Grappa di Barolo . Casa della GrappaFor the occasion, the is offering a weekend of " open grappa shops ": on Saturday, October 2nd and Sunday, October 3rd , by reservation, guided tours will be available to immerse yourself in the alchemical distillation process, visiting the pomace yard, the production facilities, the aging cellar, and the Galleria della Grappa. The tour will include walking tastings in a special glass for sampling the spirits, allowing you to discover the characteristics and unique features of young and aged grappas made from dry or more aromatic local grape varieties. Visits are offered to a limited number of people with limited attendance: for this reason, reservations are required by calling 0142 926147. The venue will also host various opportunities for lovers of art and Monferrato: in addition to being able to visit the Votive Chapel “La Rotonda” , an architectural jewel dating back to 1808 and located in the Historic Park of the venue, once an ancient Monastery, it will be possible to admire the images of the exhibition “ Monferrato in the Spirit ”, exhibited en plein air and, on Sunday 3 October, also the works – created by authors of various national origins – that make up the exhibition “ MONFERRATO: the seductions of a landscape ” which have been entered in the National Painting and Photography Competition, curated by MAC Monferrato Arte e Cultura . It will be a visual narrative through images and paintings using different techniques, showcasing the beauty of Monferrato, interpreted by artists with diverse backgrounds, capable of capturing and documenting the many facets of the land that has been the birthplace of Mazzetti d’Altavilla. grappas and spirits for 175 years On Saturday and Sunday, the venue will be open from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm for free tastings at the Grappa Store , where a café corner will be available during the event. The event on October 3 and 4 coincides with the launch of a rich “ Autumn by Mazzetti ”: until Christmas the venue will host, upon reservation, guided tours with tastings, lunches and themed dinners at the Restaurant Materia Prima but also includes a rich calendar of events such as the initiatives within the usual Altavilla event “ Chocolate in Monferrato ” (October 17) and the truffle-themed dinner (November 12, in collaboration with the National White Truffle Fair of Moncalvo).
