Mazzetti d’Altavilla also joins the circuit of events promoted by the Wine Tourism Movement with a weekend full of visits and tastings
" Cantine Aperte " (Open Cellars) arrives next weekend, offering a variety of tour and tasting opportunities, not just at wineries. Among the special openings in Monferrato is the Mazzetti d’Altavilla distillery , which will welcome enthusiasts and the curious on Saturday, May 25th and Sunday, May 26th, to its headquarters atop Altavilla Monferrato . This is also part of the series of events promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino (Wine Tourism Movement) to raise awareness of production processes, tasting techniques, pairings, and many other aspects of wine and spirits. The Casa della Grappa (House of Grappa ), located atop the Altavilla Monferrato hill, will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday, offering the opportunity for informed tastings of spirits such as grappa, liqueurs, brandy, amari, gin, bitters, and fruit liqueurs. Guided tours will be available on both days, allowing access not only to the Historic Park with the La Rotonda (1808) and the Garden, but also to the Piazzale delle Vinacce, the Distillery, the Aging Cellar, and the Galleria della Grappa following the journey from the materia prima to the final packaging of the Piedmontese spirit. The tour also includes guided tasting sessions, allowing you to learn the correct tasting techniques and the most suitable glasses to best appreciate young and aged spirits. Food lovers will have the opportunity to savor the menus offered by the Materia Prima, and can also request a tasting of the spirits paired with the various courses. Votive Chapel Restaurant A special event is also being held for the occasion: the possibility of combining the guided tours with special aperitifs , allowing you to delve more deeply into the world of locally sourced mixology, thanks to the selection of drinks based on spirits produced in Monferrato and paired with typical dishes interpreted by the chef. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature two events, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, combining a guided tour and a special aperitif featuring cocktails made in Monferrato. All events are weather-neutral and require advance reservations.
