Altavilla Monferrato returns with a day dedicated to one of the symbols of sweetness: chocolate. On Sunday, October 18th, from morning until evening, the town streets will be filled with stalls and curiosities dedicated to chocolate. Mazzetti d’Altavilla be opening its doors from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm for tastings and tours by appointment. Throughout the day, the Casa della Grappa distillates Mazzetti d’Altavilla with a selection of fine chocolates from the Piedmontese brand Baratti & Milano. Four types of dark chocolate (from 70% to 99%) will be offered, paired with traditional Piedmontese grappas, which will be available for free tasting. During the day, visitors will also be able to enjoy delicious breakfasts in the café and visit the "La Rotonda" Votive Chapel and photography exhibitions dedicated to Monferrato. Free guided tours of the distillery are also available, allowing you to witness the art of distillation firsthand (departing Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 3:30 a.m., and 5:00 p.m.), as well as guided tours of the Mazzetti d’Altavilla with a panoramic tasting of Grappa 7.0 and Baratti & Milano dark chocolate (at a time to be arranged, €10 each, tasting included). Furthermore, the evocative rooms of the Barricaia will host an art and photography exhibition titled "Great Passions: Chocolate and Art," curated by twenty artists from the "MAC Monferrato Arte e Cultura" Association. Recalling how art and chocolate appear to have a positive influence on mood and memory, the promoters propose a group exhibition bringing together painters, sculptors, and photographers, offering the public a tribute to art in its most profound sense. The works, featuring a wide variety of techniques and styles, will be displayed in the unusual setting of the Aging Cellar, dominated by the colors and scents of wood, where the spirit becomes a "meditation piece." This setting will help "understand how a simple sign defines and represents reality or a concept in a more or less stylized form."
Meanwhile, "Autumn by Mazzetti" continues until Christmas at the headquarters, hosting guided tours, sensory tastings, themed lunches and dinners (by reservation), as well as a Gin evening (October 24th), a truffle-themed dinner (November 27th, in collaboration with the Moncalvo National White Truffle Fair), and the Days with the Master Distiller (October 17th, November 7th, November 21st, December 5th), opportunities to delve deeper into the secrets of distillation. Spirit tastings are also available at the new Grappa Store in Casale Monferrato, at Via Aurelio Saffi 64 (corner of Piazza Castello).
