Sunday 8th September the festival will close with a Cape Verdean rhythm in the Mazzetti d’Altavilla Historical Park with an aperitif by “Materia Prima”
The new distillation campaign begins to the sound of jazz in the historic Mazzetti d’Altavilla grappa factory , where the 2024 edition of the Monfrà Jazz Fest will conclude on Sunday 8 September with a show that will welcome autumn in Monferrato and the 178th production season of the “ Distillatori dal 1846 ”.
Doors open this afternoon at the historic venue atop Altavilla Monferrato for an unmissable musical performance, complete with tours, tastings, and a sunset aperitif. Visitors are welcome from 3:00 PM, the venue's afternoon opening time, to discover the magical world of Mazzetti d’Altavilla through its spirits and the possibility of guided tours by reservation. At 4:30 PM, the Historic Park of the ancient monastery, now the "Casa della Grappa" will host, among the centuries-old trees and the "La Rotonda" Votive Chapel, a welcoming, refreshing, refined, and engaging concert. Admission is free, subject to availability. The musical performance, enjoyed by a diverse audience, will feature the Lisa Manara Quartet, "Capo Verde sings the encounter." A travel itinerary that docks at the docks of the Cape Verde archipelago, scattered in the middle of the Atlantic, off the western coast of Africa. From the slow-paced mornas rocking melancholic waves to the more cheerful coladeira, the rhythms of batuque and funanà resonate, reminiscent of continental Africa. A musical canvas that draws on the great music interpreted by Cesaria Évora, a reserved, resolute, sober, and elegant ambassador of Cape Verdean music to the world. From the sweet lament of the melody of Sodade to the explosion of Bia Lulucha, to the celebrated "Angola," the land from which so many Cape Verdeans originally came. The project also features pieces by contemporary singer-songwriters such as Mayra Andrade, Bonga, and Cordas Do Sol. Lisa Manara lends her voice to this sonic encounter, accompanied by musicians of the caliber of Aldo Betto, Federico Squassabia, Paolo Rubboli and Fabio Mazzini. The concert will give way to anaperitif prepared by the Materia Prima (reservations required), which will host the event by serving finger food and appetizers accompanied by classic icons of Monferrato culinary art, local wines, and drinks that celebrate mixology “made in Altavilla Monferrato”.
Attendance at the musical performance, set among the park's ancient trees and against the backdrop of the evocative "La Rotonda" Votive Chapel, is completely free until seats are filled.
