Wine distillate requires courage. And it was especially so for the first generations of Mazzetti d’Altavilla who produced it, way back in unsuspecting times. Twenty years of "forgetfulness" is no small feat... but it's the length of time this distillate has truly endured in the company's barrel cellar, in the cool, natural temperature of a cellar that is the cradle of poetic evolution.
Every year, the distillate, produced strictly following the discontinuous distillation method applied to the bain-marie still, dries out a little more, losing some of its aromas through evaporation and emphasizing the remainder, which are typical of "courageous" aging.
