Originaland photographic calendar for Mazzetti d’Altavilla: presentation Sunday 1 October at 6.15pm
Twelve photographers, six women and six men, who work in the Piedmont hills, declared a “World Heritage Site” three years ago. They are the protagonists of a new 2017/18 Photographic Calendar , one of a kind, the idea of which came from Mazzetti d’Altavilla, Piedmont's most historic distillery, and, after a summer of evocative shots, will be presented on Sunday 1 October at 6:15 pm on top of the Altavilla Monferrato hill, as part of the grappa distillery's special opening day. The challenge was stimulating and the photographers, coming from all the hilly areas of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato wine-growing landscapes , enthusiastically accepted the challenge launched for the first time by the Piedmontese distillery: to immortalise one of Piedmont's representative excellences, Grappa, contextualising it in the landscape where the fragrant pomace originates: the UNESCO hills. “The result was nothing short of exciting,” comment Chiara, Silvia and Elia Belvedere Mazzetti , representatives of the seventh generation of the 'Distillatori dal 1846' (Distillers since 1846). “Each photographer developed different ideas, creating shots with different settings and meanings, expressing impressive personal creative skills.” “ Piedmont in the Spirit ” is the name of the special calendar born from these images and is also unique in its concept, as it begins in October and ends the following September, following the year of distillation. Each photograph is accompanied by poetic captions and the author's thoughts, which reveal the same sensations experienced while taking the shot and in the daily work among the UNESCO hills. Who are the protagonists? Let's discover them in alphabetical order: Paolo Bernardotti, Paola Calamarà, Chiara Cavagnolo, Anne Conway, Igor Furlan, Sabrina Gazzola, Davide Giovinazzo, Fabio Menino, Giulio Morra, Enrica Pavese, Giulia Ricagni, and Pasquale Tortorella . They all live between the Langa and Monferrato regions , passing through the Asti and Alessandria areas . They will be sharing their experiences in a dynamic and interactive way, starting at 6:15 pm on Sunday, October 1st, while meeting the public. Furthermore, the twelve selected images will also be reproduced in giant format (on local wood supports and therefore well-integrated into the local landscape) along a permanent "open-air" path of photographic inspiration. This path will lead to the Distillery and will be visited this autumn by thousands of visitors (many of them from abroad) who book the guided tour experience during the stills' operating season. In line with Casa Mazzetti's "green" philosophy, the Calendar, printed in a limited edition, will also include the Ecocalculator , the tool that allows you to concretely measure the environmental savings resulting from the use of 100% Green Cocoon Offset paper. Thanks to this choice, printing the calendar has helped save, for example, 24 trees . The public participating in “Grappe Aperte” will therefore have the privilege of being the first to see the images, set against the landscape of the top of the Altavilla Monferrato hill.
