Launched to mark the 170th anniversary of the Piedmontese distillery, the project was strongly supported by Chiara, Silvia , and Elisa Belvedere Mazzetti, the seventh generation of the "Distillatori dal 1846" family. The first Grappa Store for Mazzetti d’Altavilla, a historic Piedmontese distillery based in Altavilla Moferrato (AL), opened in Milan on November 3rd. Promoted with the motto "It takes 170 years to become young" (2016 marks the 170th anniversary of the distillery's founding, ed.), the Grappa Store was the brainchild of three young sisters, Chiara, Silvia and Elisa Belvedere Mazzetti, members of the seventh generation of the "Distillatori dal 1846" family. It offers a wide selection of grappas, grape spirits, and other products (all produced on-site), as well as accessories such as glasses, dispensers, and gift items. Refinement, design, and glamour have been chosen as the distinguishing features of the Grappa Store opened on Via Marghera, one of Milan's most famous shopping streets. Guests can taste the distillery's products and enjoy—as the Mazzetti sisters suggest—"a true, almost meditative experience, entering a world of aromas and fragrances that will make you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a moment." The Mazzetti d’Altavilla distillery currently produces approximately 1,250 hl of anhydrous alcohol annually, resulting in approximately 900,000 bottles of various sizes, including aged grappa (38%), young grappa (30%), liqueurs (13%), brandy (8%), wine spirits (7%), and fruit liqueur (7%). The company's annual turnover is approximately €6.7 million (90% domestic – 10% export). In Italy, retail sales (company stores, wine shops, and specialty stores) along with the HoReCa sector account for 55% of turnover, while the remaining 35% is absorbed by large-scale retail trade, where the distillery's products are sold under the Antica Grapperia Mazzetti brand. Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, and Ukraine are the main export markets for the Mazzetti distillery.
