Silver Medal for the London Dry Gin launched this summer by Mazzetti d’Altavilla
It's called "Black Edition" but in the last few days the new Gin launched by Mazzetti d’Altavilla has also been coloured silver, like the medal that the new London Dry Gin won at the "Barawards 2024 by Bargiornale". The news arrived last Monday in Milan where, at the Palazzo della Cultura, guests of the Tecniche Nuove Group (leader in specialized publishing for productive and professional activities), the awards for new products released on the market between June 2023 and June 2024 were announced. For the "Spirits" category, the Gin Mazzetti Black Edition was awarded the silver medal based on the final ranking determined by the combination of online votes (20%) and the opinions of the specialized jury (80%) composed of consultants, professionals and top distributors in the out-of-home market. The panelists evaluated five parameters, examining the innovative features of design and packaging, functionality and ergonomics, sales prospects, market relevance , and environmental impact. The race for the latest Mazzetti d’Altavilla began last summer when, after its launch, the spirit was nominated for the Barawards (an award that has now been running for 15 years), passing the initial selection phase, which also included popular voting. Having qualified as a finalist, the “Black Edition” thus secured a place in the final shortlist until the ranking was made official during the awards ceremony (dedicated specifically to the theme of innovation) and published in the latest issue of the Bargiornale magazine.
What are the characteristics of the new gin developed by Mazzetti d’Altavilla , and why was it deemed so innovative? Its powerful personality, bold and spicy botanicals such as cardamom and black pepper, the blend of spicy notes, persistence, and savory flavors, its distinct vocation for creating surprising Dry Martinis or excellent Negronis (or Americanos), along with its elegant and original packaging, are among the features that most distinguish this Italian gin. Building on the success of its predecessor (the aromatic Gin Mazzetti with a clear label), it is poised to accelerate its conquest of the national and international markets.
"If it's true that today's innovation is tomorrow's tradition ," commented General Manager Silvia Belvedere Mazzetti , " this result is the best way to anticipate the celebrations for our company's 180th anniversary in 2026. Creating a new product is a process that requires careful attention to every aspect: from the newcomer's identity to its packaging, from the interest of operators and consumers to its alignment with the values of a historic company like the one passed down to us by so many generations before us. We hope this prestigious recognition will help promote our gin distillation not only in Italy but also in the many emerging markets we are entering."
With this award, Italy and Piedmont have received renewed recognition for their gin production, confirming the spirit's continued upward trend. It's no coincidence that with the first Gin Mazzetti, the distillery, founded in 1846, had already achieved the record by 2023, over 50,000 bottles in total both within and outside Italy.
is Gin Mazzetti Black Edition available at wine shops and specialist stores throughout Italy, at www.mazzetti.it , and can be tasted at the 6 Grappa Store Grappa Mazzetti d’Altavilla located in Turin, Milan, Marcallo (Milan), Altavilla and Casale Monferrato (Alessandria) and Alba (Cuneo).
