Friday 1st September world premiere with “Les Bohémiens – Homage to Giacomo Puccini” in the Historic Park of Mazzetti d’Altavilla and aperitif by “Materia Prima”
The Monfrà Jazz Fest will offer a special musical welcome to the month of September in the UNESCO World Heritage hills of Monferrato, with a world premiere scheduled for the evening of next Friday, September 1st, at the headquarters of Mazzetti d’Altavilla , a historic distillery atop Altavilla Monferrato. The festival will stop in the company's Historic Park (or in the panoramic event space, in case of inclement weather) with a program that will kick off an autumn packed with events, celebrating the liveliest season for the " Distillatori dal 1846 " (Distillers since 1846), as they prepare for the first arrivals of the 2023 grape pomace, the 177th since the company's founding . Starting at 9 pm on Friday, at Viale Unità d'Italia 2 in Altavilla Monferrato, " Les Bohémiens – Omaggio a Giacomo Puccini " will take place. This bold project delves into the arranging of pieces from Giacomo Puccini's masterpiece from scratch, without distorting an opera with perfect compositional practice. It all began in one of the quintessential "Puccini places": Colleretto Giacosa (Turin), the birthplace of Giuseppe Giacosa (the man who, together with Luigi Illica, wrote Bohéme, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly). It was here that Colleretto native Enrico Perelli conceived the quintet "Les Bohémiens," which experiments with this interpretative approach using the language of jazz through a diverse mix of highly energetic and talented musicians. In addition to Perelli on keyboards and synth bass, the ensemble features Valentina Nicolotti on vocals, Max Carletti on electric guitar, Luca Biggio on tenor saxophone and bass clarinet, and Francesco Parodi on drums. Preceding the "world premiere" will be the opportunity (from 7:30 pm to 9 pm) to enjoy an Aperitivo in the Park hosted by the Restaurant Materia Prima , featuring a selection of finger food, a traditional first course, and a drink or a glass of wine/beverage and coffee with a delicious accompaniment. This is also an opportunity to learn about "made in Monferrato" mixology, thanks to, for example, Mazzetti's signature Gin and Tonic or Negroni recipes, or to taste the spirits of the company, which in 2023 is celebrating a veritable shower of awards from national and international competitions. Participation in the musical show, set among the park's centuries-old trees and against the backdrop of the evocative "La Rotonda" Votive Chapel, is completely free until seats are filled; for this reason, advance reservations are recommended.
