Gold for the Grappa Barricata di Ruchè 7.0 and the new Vermouth di Torino Mazzetti
Two of the Gold Medals recently awarded by the Grappa Award competition, promoted by theNational Association of Wine Cities and dedicated to the finest Italian spirits such as grappa and vermouth, have arrived in the Monferrato hills. The rankings published in recent days after the tasting sessions include two labels produced by Mazzetti d’Altavilla, a historic Piedmontese company celebrating its 180th anniversary by earning two new prestigious gold-colored awards. Leading the way are Grappa 7.0, a barrel-aged Ruchè pomace distillate that has attracted much interest for its ability to showcase a unique and native grape variety like Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato. The best gift to its 10 years of existence: the 7.0 (7 like the countries where Ruchè is grown and like the generations of Mazzetti d’Altavilla and 0 like the kilometers traveled by the pomace and like the environmental impact of its processing) reaches in 2026 the tenth anniversary since its creation in 2016, on the occasion of the company's 170th anniversary. The second Gold instead goes to the new Vermouth di Torino Mazzetti which, despite its young presence on the market (since last fall), has achieved widespread acclaim among vermouth lovers and mixology professionals and enthusiasts. In this case too, the success is due to a native grape variety that Mazzetti d’Altavilla strongly desired as the protagonist of this first Vermouth di Torino Superiore: the aromatic Malvasia di Casorzo. "Two medals ," commented General Manager Silvia Belvedere Mazzetti , "that we welcome with great joy on this very special anniversary. There is no finish line, but rather a new starting point, with the local area always at the forefront of our corporate values. The 2026 Grappa Award recognitions once again demonstrate that focusing on our great indigenous heritage is a choice capable of leading to great satisfaction."
