Knowledge of the ancient art of distillation, a culture of tasting, and support for the mission of the "Liberi di Scegli" non-profit association. These three elements, along with the ingredients of conviviality and synergy between associations and businesses in the Piedmont region, characterized the recent visit by members of the Vercelli Lions Club to the historic headquarters of Mazzetti d’Altavilla – Distillatori dal 1846, Piedmont's first established family-run grappa distillery, which has surpassed 170 years of uninterrupted family business. The Vercelli association was able to experience a tour of the distillery, led by Mazzetti's Master Distiller, Sanzio Evangelisti, who guided those present through the production processes and the secrets to properly and knowledgeably tasting Piedmontese spirits. It was a cultural and collaborative moment between a historic company and an active association like the Vercelli Lions Club, two entities that share many elements, starting with a love for the lands in which they operate. But the meeting was also marked by a social objective: supporting the "Liberi di Scegli Onlus" project, which has been working in the Vercelli area for years to support families with disabilities. The association brings together families with children with disabilities living in the Vercelli area and fosters the exchange of information and experiences. It provides bureaucratic assistance for exercising rights, as well as psychological support and training for a better family lifestyle. Furthermore, the association raises public awareness of disability-related issues, promoting the social integration and professional inclusion of young people with disabilities.
