Five top awards (and one Best Gold) for the historic Piedmontese grappa company come from the German ISW Competition and the Italian ALAMBICCO D'ORO competition
's summer of 2020 Mazzetti d’Altavilla is golden... like the five awards the distillery, founded in 1846 and operating atop the Altavilla Monferrato hill, has received in recent days from prestigious international spirits competitions. A true record of awards (all at the top step of the podium) obtained by the Monferrato grappa company of seven generations, starting from the ISW (Internationaler Spirituosen Wettbewerb), a competition in Germany that awarded three products with the “Gold” medal : the Riserva Segni , obtained from a special seasoning process that involves the passage of this fine distillate in six barrels made of different wood essences and of different capacities for five long years, the Grappa barricata 7.0 , a persuasive standard-bearer of the native Monferrato Ruchè grape variety and multi-award-winning since its creation in 2016, and finally the Amaro Gentile , an ancient elixir of herbs, roots and berries. Gold is also the dominant color for Mazzetti d’Altavilla at the 2020 edition of the national Alambicco d'Oro competition where the Special Brandy 35-year-old Special , created last autumn after an unparalleled maturation in fine barrels started in 1984, triumphs, as does, once again, the Grappa Barricata 7.0 by Ruchè which this time does not stop at the "Gold" but obtains the prestigious " Best Gold Medal " in the "Aged Grappa" category. “ In this complex year ,” comment Chiara, Silvia and Elisa Belvedere Mazzetti , aka the seventh young generation of Mazzetti d’Altavilla , “this shower of awards confirms that we are on the path to excellence and strengthens our belief that the bond with the territory is a winning one. We will continue to promote native grape varieties in distillation and, in this regard, in the coming weeks, our latest line called “ Radici ” will become available, consisting of three grappas that speak of Monferrato, highlighting the typical characteristics of three native grape varieties worthy of international promotion: Grignolino , Ruchè, and Malvasia di Casorzo . ” Five medals with which to toast a summer in which the distillery atop the Altavilla Monferrato hill will remain available to the many visitors fascinated by the scents, aromas, and magic of distillation, providing the opportunity to also taste the winning products with the highest awards at international competitions.
