Big news for Mazzetti d’Altavilla autumn
While it's true that even the most established traditions were initially unexpected innovations, for Mazzetti d’Altavilla it's always time to embark on new challenges among the stills. This time, the art of Italian distillation is at the service of a global symbol of spirits: whisky ."We've worked hard ," comments Sanzio Evangelisti, Master Distiller of Mazzetti d’Altavilla , "to ensure that this newcomer can interpret this excellence, bringing all the personality of Mazzetti d’Altavilla."
The “creature” evolved in the Altavilla Monferrato barrique cellar, where it long took on the rich nuances of the fine woods selected for this ambitious undertaking. After a patient wait, this autumn the Piedmontese distillery welcomes “Animo,” the whisky “according to Mazzetti.” Character and conviction are the core values of this new release (48%), which stands out for its rich, ample aromas, with notes of yeast and a soft roasting that ranges from vanilla to hints of pastry. The aromas reveal fresh notes of roasted barley, an intense vanilla flavor, and an extremely persistent yet unobtrusive tannic finish. “Animo” enjoys long aging in fine woods, and for those seeking the perfect “sensory pairing,” we recommend a dark chocolate with a high cocoa percentage.
Even its packaging is refined: the label features a 'backward reading' that refers to the deeper meaning of the concept that inspired the birth of “Animo”: read backwards, in fact, the name of the whisky becomes “Omina” which in Latin (from the saying “nomina sunt omina” meaning names are omens and destiny is therefore decided starting from the names themselves) refers to the “omen” of courage and innovation “to challenge new times while remaining faithful to the origins”, right at the dawn of the (almost) two hundred years of Mazzetti d’Altavilla. "Approaching a whisky," adds Silvia Belvedere Mazzetti, the company's General Manager, " required time, study, and passion to try to contribute to this international distilling tradition without imitations but with an identity that can be traced back to Mazzetti d’Altavilla. For these reasons, both the sensory aspects of the product and the packaging follow their own path, not conditioned by the wide choice of international versions. The goal is to convey to Animo the entire identity of whisky according to Mazzetti."
