THE PRESS

Ruché is a winner in the glass, but it's also a hit in the still. The festival dedicated to Piedmont's smallest red DOCG, promoted by GoWine and the Municipality, kicks off today at the " La Mercantile " estate

The event opens at 4:30 pm with the conference "Land Associations... to Combat Land Fractionation and Abandonment," featuring speakers including Mayor Enzo Baraldi, Luca Ferraris (President of Ruché Producers), Massimo Corrado (GoWine), Andrea Cavallero (University of Turin), Francesco Pastorelli (Cipra Italia and Asfo di Carnino), Matilde Case (Mayor of Lauriano Po), and Giorgio Ferrero (Regional Councilor for Agriculture). This will be followed (from 6:00 pm until midnight) a tasting of Ruché wines from around twenty wineries. Guests will also be able to enjoy: finanziera and porcini mushrooms in a sour sauce and "green" rice, Ruché sausage ragù, capocollo with pink peppercorns, agnolotti with roast gravy, Ruché jellies on Monale robiola, and Ruché zabaglione with Refrancore fennel. Musical entertainment and children's games will be provided.

Tomorrow (at 10:30 a.m.) there will be a meeting called "Wine and Storytelling" with presentations by Attilio Scienza (University of Milan) and journalists Giacomo Fasola and Francesco Moscatelli from "La Stampa." A walk along the Ruché road (at 11 a.m.) and wine tasting (at 12 and 3:30 p.m., free with reservations). Lunch (from 12:30 p.m.) and then a birds of prey hunting demonstration (at 3 p.m.) at the sports field.

Distilled for 170 years

On the eve of the Ruché Festival, praise is also being received from distilleries convinced that this grape enhances the qualities of grappa, proving to be one of the most effective ways to attract new consumers, especially young ones. This is true at Mazzetti d’Altavilla , which, on the occasion of its 170th anniversary, has decided to focus on Ruché to create a new aged product designed to foster "native and responsible" consumption. "The grappa di Ruché is floral and has a unique profile," say in unison Silvia, Elisa , and Chiara Belvedere Mazzetti, the sisters representing the seventh generation of the family, who have chosen this grape to enthuse Italians and foreigners through a new 7.0 concept. The reasons for Ruché? "It's sincere, fragrant, and popular," summarize the owners. For the first time, Ruché has become the chosen grape variety for a grappa aimed at a younger audience: aged thanks to its unique profile, it is seen as the spirit that can truly introduce younger generations to grappa. The distillers for the new Ruché 100% Cru product play on numbers: seven generations of the grappa maker, like the seven municipalities in the Ruché appellation area.

Grappa is also locally sourced, as the vineyards can be seen from the Altavilla company, resulting in resource optimization and minimal environmental impact in the processing and storage of the pomace.
