Once upon a time there was the Queen's corsair…
In 1587, the legendary navigator Francis Drake raided the Bay of Cadiz, sank the Spanish fleet, and escaped after loading 2,900 barrels of sherry. It was considered the coup of the century. More than four hundred years have passed, and today Mazzetti d’Altavilla dedicates a fine grappa to the then-privateer of the Queen of England, which finishes its aging in barrels previously used to refine sherry. The selected spirit (2,900 bottles, like Francis Drake's barrels) is made from Brachetto and features a special "Sherry Finish" that imparts aromatic and fruity notes.
