Seventeen medals and one award for corporate excellence. This is the record haul of a record-breaking 2018 for Mazzetti d’Altavilla, the most historic distillery in the Northwest, which in recent months has swept the board of examiners of numerous national and international competitions, including those from Germany, France, the United Kingdom , and East Asia. This Italian spirit is winning over experts around the world, and Mazzetti d’Altavilla, ahead of Christmas, is toasting the growing success of years of work focused on the pursuit of qualitative excellence and the communication of a fresh, trendy, and versatile image for its grappa, brandy, and liqueurs.
Here are the details of the many awards won by Mazzetti d’Altavilla in Italy and around the world. At the thirty-fifth edition of the National "Alambicco d'Oro" Competition, organized by the ANAG (Grappa and Spirits Tasters), the seven-generation distillery won three medals, including a Best Gold and two Golds for its brandies aged in the Altavilla Monferrato barrique cellar (the Aged Wine Spirits have been the focus of a relaunch project conducted in recent years). Specifically, the awards were for the Special Brandy Invecchiato 27 Anni (Gold Medal), the 20-Year-Old Brandy (Gold Medal), and the Grappa 7.0 Riserva di Ruchè 100% Cru (Best Gold Medal).
Mazzetti d’Altavilla also conquers the Asia Import News , a competition that awards both the Special Brandy Invecchiato 27 Anni and the Grappa 7.0 Riserva di Ruchè 100% Cru with the Gold Medal , and wins the prestigious “ World's Best Grappa ” award in the international World Drinks Awards competition , awarded, as yet another confirmation of its popularity, to the Grappa 7.0 Grappa di Ruché 100%Cru .
Good news also from the French competition Les Citadelles du Vin: the tough competition from across the Alps awards the Brandy 20 Years with the Gold Medal .
At the EnglishInternational Wine & Spirit , theAmaro d'Altavilla and the Grappa 7.0 Riserva di Ruchè 100% Cru.
In Germany, however, the International Spirits Competition awarded the Gold medal to the Riserva 18.46, a long-aged blend obtained from Barbera and Dolcetto grape varieties.
More recently, at the Merano Wine Festival, a shower of awards from “The Wine Hunter Award 2018” which rewarded five Mazzetti d’Altavilla: the “Rosso” recognition goes to the Grappa Incontro, a blend of Barolo and Barbaresco grappas aged in barrique, the “Oro” recognition goes to the Special Brandy Invecchiato 27 Anni aged for 27 years, to the Amaro d'Altavilla and to the Riserva 18.46 (from Barbera and Dolcetto grape varieties) and the Grappa di Moscato Invecchiata was also nominated for the “Platinum” award.
And if 2017 ended with the “ 5 Grappoli ” award given to Mazzetti d’Altavilla by the prestigious Bibenda Guide (2018 edition), the current year ends with a new success: the news that the 2019 Bibenda Guide has included two top reserves from “Distillatori dal 1846” with the “ 5 Grappoli ” award: “ Gaia Mazzetti ” (Moscato and Cortese) and again “ 18.46 ”.
Not a point of arrival but rather a point of departure: the seventh generation of the “Distillatori dal 1846” (composed of the young sisters Chiara, Silvia and Elisa Belvedere Mazzetti) is in fact already at work developing new products that will be unveiled in the now approaching 2019.
