The Golden Alembic awards five medals to Mazzetti d’Altavilla
A summer of gold and silver for Mazzetti d’Altavilla , which continues to celebrate 180 years of uninterrupted business thanks to a shower of awards from major national spirits competitions. Among these, the Alambicco d'Oro (Golden Alembic) awarded by ANAG (National Association of Grappa Tasters) to the Monferrato distillery spanning three centuries (founded in 1846) with no fewer than five medals. Of these, four are "Gold" and recognize the excellence of Grappa 7.0, the now iconic "barricata" from Ruchè; Grappa di Arneis, the flagship of dry spirits "made in Piedmont"; and Riserva Segni, a special blend of Barolo and Dolcetto, perfect for sipping after a total of five years of aging in barrels made from six different, prized woods. Brandy Italiano Mazzetti 35-year-old: a poem for the senses that elevates the poetic notes of this Italian wine distillate to Olympus. But the list doesn't end there: there's also a Silver Medal for Gin Mazzetti, an award that recognizes a now-established, Mazzetti-esque history of producing the "London Dry" beloved by the new generations. "The judgment of expert tasters," comments General Manager Silvia Belvedere Mazzetti, "always represents a precious moment of comparison, because it shows us the value of the work we've been carrying out for generations. These awards recognize a culture of distillation that has always characterized Mazzetti d’Altavilla: from grappas to long-aged brandies, to gins, bitters, and liqueurs, every product is born from the same quest for quality and attention to Italian raw materials. It is this continuity, combined with the ability to interpret different tastes and consumption occasions, that continues to guide our work."
While the 2026 Alambicco d'Oro award ceremony is scheduled for September, the celebrations atop Altavilla Monferrato continue year-round with events, tours, and tastings that ignite the spirits summer, attracting an ever-increasing number of foreign tourists flocking to the Piedmont hills, a World Heritage Site.
